LA FAMILLE LEBLANC
ACADIAN TRADITIONAL MUSIC
New-Brunswick
NEW ARTIST AT THE AGENCY !
Territory: World
In the lands bathed by Atlantic tides, where pine trees meet the waves and stories are passed down through song, rises the singular voice of La famille LeBlanc. Hailing from New Brunswick, at the heart of Acadia, this family group embodies the soul of a people who sing so as not to forget.
Made up of parents and their three daughters, La famille LeBlanc performs 19th-century tunes deeply rooted in Acadian and Celtic traditions — musical treasures often unknown to other Celtic nations such as Ireland, Scotland, and Brittany. The daughters play the concertina, whistle, and fiddle, and also compose original pieces inspired by tradition, creating a vibrant dialogue between heritage and innovation. The mother lends her voice to the oldest Acadian ballads, interwoven with her daughters’ in rich and sensitive harmonies, where generations respond to one another through music. The father, a multi-instrumentalist, accompanies on piano with arrangements that blend baroque, jazz, and traditional music. A proud heir to along line of fiddlers, he also plays the fiddle in the Acadian style. For over twenty years, he has traveled throughout Acadia in search of the most beautiful traditional tunes of his homeland.
These melodies, which crossed the seas against all odds, have flowed through his family’s veins for more than seven generations, and he now passionately passes them on to his three daughters. Their music is both rooted and open to the world. It transforms tradition into modernity, roots into light, and memories into refrains that speak of love, identity, and freedom. La famille LeBlanc is more than a band: it is a celebration of memory, an invitation to dance, to listen, and to find oneself in music that unites generations and cultures.
