Formed in 2018, La Déferlance offers refreshing, brightly colored trad. Its repertoire is made up not only of lively tunes and purely traditional songs arranged to its flavor, but also of numerous entirely original compositions. The group's energetic, polished performances are a testament to its members' years of varied musical experience, particularly in jazz and classical music. The group now travels across Canada to present its show Le feu aux poudres, taken from its debut album released in 2022.

In this performance showcasing the tracks from their new album (May 2025), La Déferlance transports its audience into a world where stories of the past intertwine with the realities of modern Québécois society. With festive grooves, refined vocal harmonies, vibrant arrangements, and moments of sensitivity, the band stands out both for its energy and the quality of its interpretations.

Formed in 2018, the group now travels across North America, presenting a repertoire made up of original compositions (lyrics and music), traditional tunes, and call-and-response songs. Their debut album, Le feu aux poudres, earned them three nominations at the Canadian Folk Music Awards and GAMIQ.

La Déferlance highlights a rich traditional sound infused with the diverse musical backgrounds of its members, including classical, jazz, and rock influences. Marie-Desneiges Hamel (accordions and vocals), Grégoire Painchaud (violin, guitar, mandolin, and vocals), Renaud Labelle (double bass, bass, and vocals), and Mathieu Baillargeon (piano, foot percussion, jaw harp, and vocals) take the stage with remarkable passion and contagious joy!
