‘Spicey’ is a Montreal choreographer, a performer, a teacher, a curator and a major player on Canada’s hip-hop dance scene. She is recognized as a pioneer and an artist with unparalleled vision, drawing her raw material from hip-hop culture, whose field of exploration she is constantly expanding.
Artistic director and choreographer of the Ebnflōh, company, this time it's her turn to return to the spotlight with a solo work, Mōnad.
Mōnad
(from the ancient Greek monad, meaning 'unit')
Monad refers to the idea of a self-sufficient, unicellular organism containing multiple universes. Major player on Québec's hip-hop dance scene, Alexandra 'Spicey' Landé embodies this Mōnad.
Inspired by this primary matter and energised by her symbiotic relationship with dance and hip hop culture, Spicey welcomes materials and sounds that form and deform, adapt and transform as they interact. How can we approach different incarnations of a single life? Mōnad is a vibrant consideration of the relationships in interrelated universes, questioning the notion of eternity.
