SIMON DENIZART
JAZZ | FUSION | ÉLECTRO
Originally from Créteil, French pianist Simon Denizart arrived in Montreal in 2011 and wasted no time in getting his music heard.
His career began in Quebec with the Audience Award at the FestiJazz de Rimouski in 2014. On the strength of this award and with support from the Canadian label 270 Sessions, he produced three albums, Between Two Worlds (2015), Beautiful People (2016) and Darkside (2017). This productive period earned him the Radio-Canada Revelation award in 2016 and two ADISQ nominations in 2017 and 2018.
Critically acclaimed, he performs all over the world (France, Canada, Czech Republic, Cuba, etc.) and leaves no one indifferent. He plays sensitive, energizing music sprinkled with subtle, accessible melodies.
He also accompanies musicians from the international scene, including Fred Wesley, Dominique Fils-Aimé and Berlin singer KIDBEKID.
His most recent album, NOMAD (2021), released on Laborie Jazz (France) and Arte Boréal (Canada), features a unique encounter between the piano and the calabash. Influenced by world music, jazz, classical and electronic music, the album features original instrumental compositions that take you on an eclectic journey on the theme of travel, immigration and human relationships. The album was again nominated for an ADISQ award in the Jazz Album of the Year category.
In 2023 he began a new collaboration with the prestigious Canadian label Justin Time Records, which produced his forthcoming fifth album : Piece of Mind.

PIECE OF MIND

PIECE OF MIND
On stage, Simon Denizart leads audiences on a powerful, introspective journey where the piano meets percussion, drums, and electric bass. Borrowing sounds from jazz, classical, and electronic music, he shapes a cinematic, contemporary universe. An immersive experience marked by rhythmic intensity, melodic sensitivity, and unique soundscapes.
NOMAD

NOMAD
NOMAD is an invitation to travel, an unprecedented encounter between the piano of composer Simon Denizart and the calabash of virtuoso percussionist Elli Miller Maboungou.
Together, they form a dynamic and original duo where "the universes deployed are sensitive, imbued with swing and highly delectable" (Christophe Rodriguez, sortiesjazznights.ca).
They push back the boundaries of traditional instrumental aesthetics and offer an eclectic journey through rhythmic, melodic and cinematic music.
After fourteen months travelling through Texas, California, Canada, Morocco and France, the nomadic lifestyle was a formidable source of inspiration and a pretext for recounting these journeys, these stories and these encounters. Music has thus taken the place of the travel diary that holds so many memories and secrets.
Nominated for Jazz Album of the Year at the Gala de l'ADISQ 2021, the album expresses the universe and atmosphere of the two musicians' complicity.
