15 artists and directors of specialized dance venues in the regions of Quebec are calling for more support and recognition in order to develop and promote this discipline outside of Montreal.
Among the 15 artists who signed the open letter is Chantale Caron, artistic director of Fleuve | Espace Danse, in Saint-Jean-Port-Joli.
"If this art form has been particularly affected by the pandemic, we must admit that the situation has also highlighted blind spots in its development: professional dance suffers from a severe centralization in Montreal, to the detriment of a more promising deployment throughout the territory.
