VÍAS
TRANSDISCIPLINARY
Vías is a transdisciplinary company based in Tiohtià:ke/Montreal that challenges how live art engages the audience. Its work is anchored in the idea of art as a means of transcendence, therefore, it seeks to design transformative experiences that nurture non-rational connections and venture beyond the mundane.
Standing out for its meticulous attention to detail, Vías adopts a unique approach to each project and assembles a team of experts from different fields, inviting them to intertwine their ideas at each stage of research, creation and production. As a result, the company facilitates memorable shared encounters through multi-layered, high-quality artworks.
Vías does not seek to create along a continuous line, but to use the tools it acquires over time to freely reinvent itself and design a unique identity and aesthetic for each creation. In this way, the company eludes classifications and labels, following its call of the present with the desire to achieve depth in every research it undertakes.

SYNOPSIS - FLESH AND SOUND - 60-90 min.
Creation 2024 / 2 performers (rotation cast)
Installation + Performance
Flesh & Sound is a gesture of courage, effort and complicity. Stemming from the fundamental question: how do we listen?, this duet showcases a collection of handmade ancestral instruments from Mexico which are digitally amplified by an enveloping sound design and paired with contemporary instruments. Deeply connected, the two performers produce a simultaneous, live musical and choreographic score. Physical and sonic vibrations build a bridge across time, evoking imagery from pre-Hispanic cosmology and awakening an awareness that pulsates in the present moment.

SYNOPSIS - TOUT CE QU'IL RESTE - 60 min
Creation 2026 / 4 performers
Tout ce qu'il reste is the new creation by Diana León and Paco Ziel, commissioned by the National Arts Centre, Danse Danse, Salle Bourgie, and Domaine Forget de Charlevoix. The choreographers seek to push the boundaries of classical music codes through an innovative interpretation of fourteen selected lieder by Franz Schubert — short songs for voice and piano. The result will be a 60-minute piece performed by León and Ziel, alongside two rising stars of Quebec’s classical music scene: baritone Olivier Bergeron and pianist Chloé Dumoulin.
León and Ziel draw inspiration from Schubert’s ability to convey complex emotional nuances within a brief musical form, aiming to create a work that reflects the sense of intimacy and vastness his music evokes. Listening to these moving compositions in a time of cultural polarization and moral crisis, the artists pose a fundamental question: What does humanity need right now?
Throughout the piece, the four performers interact through movement, exchanges with the piano, and vocal explorations — freeing classical music and contemporary dance from their respective disciplinary constraints. Some lieder will be performed in their original form, while others will be reimagined or deconstructed. The piece is designed to be presented in small concert halls or churches.
